Knucklebones from COTL

If you've played the game Cult of the Lamb you've likely come across the minigame Knucklebones. It is a dice game where each player has a 3x3 grid. Then in turns each player throws a die and places it on the grid. The grids are split into 3 columns. Placing a die in a column eliminates all dice with the same number on the opponent's aligned column. The game ends when someone fills their grid and points are counted, highest wins. In a column:

Materials I'll need

  1. 3d printer with some filament
  2. Some A4 paper
  3. 18 die (9 per grid)

I alr have a printer and A4 paper, just had to get some dice. I managed to find easily 2 boxes of 12 dice for 1 euro each.

2 boxes containing 12 dice each

Sadly a few had paint defects, but that leaves 18 dice, exactly what we need

3 groups of dice, one with 6 with paint defects and 2 groups of 9 clean ones

Actually making it

It's time to design the grids and the box!

2 simple grids and short explanation of the game. black on white

This is my grid "design". First time using inkscape

2 halves of the box. black

I'm gonna print these 2 halves with grey PLA plastic and hold them together with rubber bands

Done!

After 30 minutes of printing, some cutting and folding, here's the final result:

The dice, box, rubber bands, grids and instructions set on a table The box containing the game, held close by 2 rubber bands

The boxes and the paper aren't the best, but I only need it to work, so I am happy with it.
