Horrid Dream Volleyball

Cabinet of various weird sports

Episode: UNKNOWN

Hello everyone, I'm the host Jen and welcome back to another episode of CVWS!!!

I'm the cohost Ian and today we will be covering Dream Volleyball

Did you know it's not even categorized as part of Volleyball? I wonder if a 2nd game were to happen it would be numbered 8192...

Wait is there only one game of this? Why is it called 4096???

Because the players gotta move like inn the game 2048, well I mean the cars h-

CARS?!? god, I should have researched this topic...

Let's just say I'm a BIG fan of this sport.

Render showcasing the setup: two teams of 6 cars, 10 team colored balls each, 4 mixed team-objective ball, a fake objective ball, an imperfect objective ball fake, and the objective ball.

Ok, I see twelve cars and ummhh... twenty seven balls. You have some explaining to do.

The game is realllllyyy simple.

I don't know if I wanna believe that.

There are six players in each team, one real ball, one fake, twenty five useless ones-

Have the game designers watched a volleyball match in the last thousand years?

No, absolutely not

Alllllriiiight continue, I won't interrupt

So, I was saying, twenty five useless balls and the objective is to get the real one into the round part of the boat. Players can't get off their car, the game is called 4096 in reference to the popular mobile game 2048

Why not just 2048? It's just a number?

Copyright issues. Also I wasn't finished, one of teams (alternating between the two) gets to know which ball is real, well up until it gets thrown around and everyone has to move in a cardinal direction, relative to the boat, there are 4 rounds, this is extended in case of a tie to the next even number of rounds

How did they even come up with this????

:D

:D

:D

:D

Why are you making that face?

:D

OHHHHH IT'S DREAM VOLLEYBALL

YEEEPPPPP

Ok, I think I got the gist of it, let's get into the match now...

This game lasted just about... 300 years? What?

They had to convince the players to come back, quite a few times, once every 4 ish rounds, for a total of 48

Fourty-eight, sigh...

Well, teams have an obvious advtange each round, like, in an alternating manner so that leads to lengthening, also y'know the ball falling into the water, or the cars...

Wow.

Also, twenty or so rounds had to be redone due to rule breaks, mainly with the cars. Turns out, it's kinda hard to move along the cardinal directions

Is it cardinal directions?

Oh. c'mon man, you know what I meant.

Ahahah yes I'm just messing with ya. How did the game end?

Someone realized there was no rule against crashing into other players, so the red team just rammed into the blue team, rotating their cars so that they couldn't move without breaking the rules. Then they slowly got the ball into the goal and won!

Huh, that's actually pretty clever!

Madness aside, this is why I love this game. As in, the ruleset and the match.

Yeah, turns out it was more interesting than I thought!

Well, it's time for audience comments! Let's check the chat!

Were there any pink balls in the game?

No? What is this questi-

SHUT. Hello Jet! Thanks for watching! Next time we'll cover something with a pink ball in it!

Oh thank you!

Who are you?

I'm a dog! I love pink balls!

That's an aibo!!! Hello Jet

So uh a robot?

Robot-dog!

Neat!

I'm such a fan of aibos... Anyways, I think that's all for this episode! See ya!

Bye!
